First and foremost I would like to get this out of the way:
100% of donations will go to the Steven Walter Foundation.
ZERO donation funds will go to offsetting my own personal expenses for this trip; be it either any of the bike prep in the lead up, or expenses while on the road such as fuel, accommodation, etc.
The Steven Walter Foundation Around Australia Ride 2010 represents the Steven Walter Foundation’s purpose to organise and run events to raise money for the Answers for Kids Cancer Program. The “Answers for Kids Cancer” program, which is a joint venture between the Cancer Centre at Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick and the Children’s Cancer Institute Australia (CCIA), is the first of its kind in Australia and its goals are to improve survival rates for children with cancer and reduce the side effects of treatment.
Your donation will support the rapid progress of discoveries made in the laboratory directly to benefit patients. An example of the power of doctors and scientists working together is a national clinical trial where children being treated for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, the commonest childhood cancer, are having their treatment guided by a highly sensitive genetic test for relapse risk. In less than five years this study has already led to dramatically improved survival rates for children
Around Australia in five weeks!
To participate in the ride, Foundation organisers have asked for a minimum $2,500 in donations to be raised for each bike. For Australians all donations made above $2 are tax deductible and an official receipt will be provided for all donations. If you are Not from Australia you can still make a donation however the funds will not be tax deductible.
Donating is easy via the Stephen Walter Foundation Donations Page.
