By Toasty, on August 28th, 2010 This will be a short post as I am doing it for no other reason than to test out a bluetooth keyboard I have bought for my iPhone. Since OS4 was released for the iphone they now have the ability to use bluetooth keyboards I have been very keen to try this out due to finding that writing a lot of text on the touchscreen can be quite fiddly. Due to the small size of this bluetooth keyboard it is feeling quite fiddly too however I can at least see the iPhone’s full screen while I am typing which does Continue reading the full Bluetooth Keyboard post. By Toasty, on August 16th, 2010 Well first the good news. I am closing in on the $2,500 minimum in fundraising with my total currently at $2,220. And not before time too with the Steven Walter Foundation now ramping up into registrations for the Snowy Ride we have been asked to submit any last money as soon as we possibly can. Think it is tough trying to organise 50 motorcycles around Australia in five weeks, spare a thought for an event involving thousands of motorcyclists over a three day weekend! So if you have been following my blog and thinking about donating then no time like the Continue reading the full All About The Money post. By Toasty, on August 10th, 2010 GRYP Tubeless Tyre Repair Kit Finally got my act together and ordered a tubeless repair kit for my tyres. Seemed like a good idea seeing as I now have the cast wheels on my bike. The kit is by GRYP and the one I got is their Cargol Turn and Go series. The traditional tubeless tyre repair involves removing the offending object from the tyre, reaming out the hole with a tool, and then using special ropes, or cords, to jam in the tyre to plug the hole. The Turn and Go kit comes with the usual cords, but Continue reading the full Tubeless Tyre Repair Kit post. By Toasty, on August 8th, 2010 Out on the bike today, going to test some updates to this post from the iPhone. By Toasty, on August 7th, 2010 Behind the Wheel Something totally new for me today. A few months ago I contacted various motorcycle news blogs to raise the profile of the Steven Walter Foundation and this huge trip. Imagine my surprise, and delight, when Steve McDowall of the MATES motorcycle site – a site with a focus on motorcycles and safety – contacted me to say he would not only give me a plug on his site, but also on his weekly radio slot on Behind the Wheel. Only a listener base of around 1,000,000 people! Already I have seen a spike in normal traffic to Continue reading the full Podcast – Behind The Wheel post. By Toasty, on August 1st, 2010 Unfortunately my garage opens up straight west to the Brindabellas, and at this time of year when it is cold and raining if I have the garage door open I’m totally exposed to the elements. At the prospect of losing yet another weekend’s worth of work I forced myself down into the garage today to get a few things done. The rear cast wheel is now mounted for the first time, and seemed to go on without any issues. I will need to check belt alignment soon. I got the transfer case oil changed, but the shop that worked on the Continue reading the full Damn Weather post. | Ride Around Australia October 2010In October 2010 I rode a Yamaha Road Star around Australia to raise money for the Steven Walter Foundation's Answers for Kids Cancer Program. This site documents the trip prep in the lead up to the journey and a daily diary of the trip itself. | You can donate to the Steven Walter Foundation at the following link. |
